PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability by performing a reproduction operation while referring to a display on an inside screen or an outside screen. SOLUTION: A signal processing circuit 22 of an electronic camera outputs image data that shows a field captured by an imaging device 16 in compliance with a camera mode. A CPU 36 reproduces image data stored in a storage medium 42 in compliance with a reproduction mode that alternates the camera mode. A projector 28 generates an optical image based either on the image data output from the signal processing circuit 22 or the image data reproduced from the storage medium 42. The CPU 36, when the camera mode is selected, designates a rear projection panel 30 as a fixed site on which the optical image is to be projected, and when the reproduction mode is selected, designates either the outside screen or the rear projection panel 30 as any site on which the optical image is to be projected.
