PURPOSE: An image sensor and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to secure the reliability of a product in a thermal process for densifying a layer structure after a metal wiring layer and a protection layer are formed. CONSTITUTION: The uppermost metal layer(100) is formed on an insulation layer. A protection layer(200) are formed along the topology of the uppermost metal layer and the insulation layer. The front side of the protection layer is sintered by a thermal process.
