PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device for a direct injection engine capable of suppressing torque fluctuation and smoothly changing over from divided injection operation to collected injection operation. SOLUTION: This device control operation of a direct injection engine directly injecting fuel to cylinders, and includes a divided injection operation part injecting fuel with divided into a plurality of times per one cycle and retarding ignition timing than that in collected injection operation when divided injection operation demand is received, and a transition operation part making air fuel ratio richer than that in divided injection operation, making ratio of injection of which injection quantity is the minimum out of the plurality times of divided injection larger, and advancing ignition timing when demand for transition to collected injection operation is received.
