The method involves removing oxygen-poor and nutrient water from surface water (2) of a water body (1), and supplying the water into a separate water body (4). Unnecessary nutrients are degraded by a photosynthesis-process in high algae and/or aquatic plants (5) in the separate water body. Carbon dioxide (3) from the aquatic plants is converted into oxygen by the photosynthesis-process, and recirculation (6) of cleaned and oxygen-enriched water is carried out into the surface water of the water body.
