PURPOSE: Sterilizing and deodorizing apparatus and method are provided to heat an absorbent combusting filter and pass exhaust gas through the absorbent combusting filter. CONSTITUTION: Air is inhaled through an inhaling port(110) based on the operation of a blower(130). A filter is composed of an absorbing material layer and a heater. The absorbing material layer is composed of mineral particles which withstand heat higher than 300 degrees Celsius. The heater surrounds the absorbing material layer and periodically applies heat higher than 300 degrees Celsius. Bad odor absorbed in the absorbing material layer is immediately oxidized and combusted.
