<p>Provided is a plate-like member swinging device wherein writing time can be reduced and a drive circuit can be downsized. Movable units (M11 to M33) are arrayed matrix-wise in a matrix section (20). First electrodes (T11 to T31) and second electrodes (T12 to T32) are used in common in movable units which are arranged column-wise. A plurality of third electrodes (T13 to T33) which connect, in common, plate-like members of row-wise arranged movable units are formed in such a way that one third electrode exists in each row. The drive circuit (30) selects one of the third electrodes at a time in sequence, these third electrodes being arranged column-wise. Subsequently, the drive circuit (30) applies a bias voltage to each selected third electrode, and applies a proximity voltage or an opposition voltage to the plurality of first electrodes and second electrodes, which are arranged row-wise, thereby causing the plate-like members to swing. Furthermore, during a predetermined period wherein a swing position is maintained, the voltage applied to each selected third electrode is maintained at the level of the bias voltage, and after the lapse of the predetermined period, the voltage applied to each selected third electrode is caused to make transition to a reset voltage, resulting in the plate-like members being returned to a non-swing state.</p> |
