PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of stabilizing its shock absorbing characteristic, by maximally utilizing a shock absorbing stroke of a shock absorber. SOLUTION: The elevator device is provided by superposably arranging the shock absorber 8 having a cylinder and a plunger, in a plurality of stages in the shock absorbing action direction, on a pit 1a of a hoistway lower part. The elevator device is provided with a guide means 14 having a base material 14a for placing an upper stage shock absorber 8a and a guide rail 14c for guiding this base material 14a in the shock absorbing action direction; and an elastic body 15 arranged in parallel to a lower stage shock absorber 8b and supporting dead weight of the upper stage shock absorber 8a and the base material 14a, and holds its plunger 8b2 in an extending state by putting the lower stage shock absorber 8b in a load-unapplied state at ordinary time.
