<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic material for achieving compatibility between a mechanical characteristic and a characteristic such as corrosion resistance, decorativeness, and adhesiveness which require surface purity, and to provide a method of manufacturing the metallic material inexpensively. <P>SOLUTION: The concentration of a solute is made to continuously increase from a surface to the inside of the metallic material. In order to obtain this configuration, the metallic material made of two or more kinds of elements having different oxidation speeds is heated in an atmosphere of oxygen. When the metallic material is linear, tubular, or platy, the metallic material is shaped by drawing, extrusion, and rolling after a concentration gradient is made by oxidation heat treatment. When a bonding wire for mounting a semiconductor, the wire made of a material such as gold, the concentration of a solute is made to continuously increase from the core to the surface of the wire. When an extra-fine wire such as a bonding wire for mounting a semiconductor, oxides generated on its surface are removed after oxidation heat treatment, and then the wire is drawn. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
