Benzofuro- and benzothienopyrimidine compounds are described, which are useful as Hreceptor modulatorswherein Rand Rare each independently H, Cl, F, Br, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, NO, or CF; Ris H, methoxy, Cl, F, Br, or CF; A is N or CR; where Ris H or Cl; with the proviso that at least two of R, R, R, and Ra are H; X is O or S; N(R)Ris one of the moieties:where q is 0 or 1 ; R, R, and Rare each independently H or Calkyl; and each Rsubstituent is methyl or two Rsubstituents taken together form a methylene or ethylene bridge; Ris H or methyl; Ris H; Calkyl unsubstituted or substituted with -OH, -SCH, or-NH; allyl; or cyclopropyl; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. Such compounds may be used in pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment of disease states, disorders, and conditions mediated by Hreceptor activity, such as allergy, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and pruritis.
