PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbing treatment method capable of enhancing productivity by efficiently removing dust generated by rubbing treatment and attaining long life of a rubbing roller; to provide a rubbing treatment device; to provide an optical compensation film; and to provide a device for manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The rubbing treatment device includes a rubbing roller 16 having a rubbing cloth 28 stuck to the circumferential surface thereof, a roll-shaped brush 26 for removing dust adhering to the rubbing cloth 28 and a dust exhausting device 34 exhausting the dust removed from the rubbing cloth 28.
