The present invention pertains to the field of nuclear technology, more specifically to shield cassettes, and can be used to protect weld seams in the body of a nuclear reactor. The shield cassette comprises a head and a tail connected by a frame in which is provided a bundle of fuel elements including an active portion having a length that is less than the height of the active area of the reactor. The technical result is an extended reactor service life, an increase in safety, and a higher power throughput of the reactor due to the generation of additional energy.
