<p>PURPOSE: An adaptive modulation and coding method combined with power control in a satellite communication system is provided to improve FER(Frame Error Rate) performance, by reducing possibility of escaping a critical value of the present adaptive modulation and coding. CONSTITUTION: A user terminal calculates a received signal to noise ratio value through a packet received from a satellite(101). A power control level applied in a packet before the received packet is removed from the calculated received SNR value. A final received SNR value is determined(103). An adaptive modulation and coding mode is determined on the basis of the determined received SNR value(105). Required power control amplitude is determined according to the channel state located in the adaptive modulation and coding mode region(111). The determined adaptive modulation and coding mode and the power control information are transferred to a base station.</p> |
