PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery capable of mutually short-circuiting a positive electrode and a negative electrode during rise of internal pressure and maintaining this short-circuiting state. SOLUTION: The secondary battery includes an electrode assembly containing a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator, a case incorporating the electrode assembly, a cap assembly combined with an opening of the case, a short-circuiting tap prepared on the cap assembly and electrically short-circuiting the positive electrode and the negative electrode by changing during rise of internal pressure of the case, and a short-circuiting member.
