PURPOSE: A method and device for performing a HARQ process in a wireless communication system are provided to flexibly cope with a change of a communication environment by performing different HARQ at an HARQ cycle and ACK/NACK transmission timing. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication system(10) comprises at least one base station(11). Each base station provides a communication service about a specific geographic area(15). A relay station relays a signal between the base station and a terminal. The wireless communication system including the relay station supports two-way communication. The two-way communication is performed by a TDD(Time Division Duplex) mode and an FDD(Frequency Division Duplex) mode.
