PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good full color image with small color shift by matching profiles of image displacement of the main scanning direction of respective colors with each other. SOLUTION: By controlling steering operation for performing approach control of a belt at 1/N (N: natural number) period of the belt moving period T between adjacent image forming sections, the behavior such as turning and meandering of the belt accompanying the steering operation is synchronized between respective image forming sections.
