The method involves providing a one- or multi-layer base body (10), where the base body consists of fibrous materials. A flat open region (20.1) is created, and the created open region is discolored. The discolored open region is closed. A layer is separated from the base body so that the layer has an artificial structure. Creation of the open region is performed by skiving a surface of the base body. The open region is created such that the base body remains connected during production of the layer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an article.
