PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-deposition coating which reduces a process length compared with a coating process composed of a combination between zinc phosphate treatment and electrodeposition coating, hardly produces by-products harmful for the environment such as sludge, has excellent throwing power at the inside of a bag structure part, uses no components harmful to the environment such as chromium compounds, has excellent corrosion resistance, also can re-apply a baking finish on the obtained coating film, and can be substituted for the conventional electrodeposition coating. SOLUTION: The surface treatment solution for self-deposition coating treatment for a metallic material includes: amine-modified tannin; at least one kind of cross-linking agent with a phenolic hydroxyl group and/or a cross-linking group capable of thermosetting reaction with phenolic nuclei; ferric ions; a dissolution type fluorine element; and an oxidizer. The solution is an aqueous solution in which the respective components and the raw materials of the respective components lie in prescribed ratios, and which has a pH of 2 to 6.
