PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vector computer capable of performing dynamic overtaking control on vector gather and scatter instructions. SOLUTION: Minimum/maximum value determiner 21 determines minimum/maximum values among vector elements by use of a calculation result of a fixed-point calculation unit 12 for executing an address dependency source instruction in accordance with a vector gather or vector scatter instruction, and holds the minimum/maximum value in a minimum/maximum value register part 31. When the vector gather or vector scatter instruction is executed, an access range of addresses attributed to the vector gather or vector scatter instruction is specified from the held minimum/maximum value, and overtaking control is performed on the vector gather or vector scatter instruction.
