摘要 The disclosed wireless communication system enables the smooth transfer of a mobile terminal between cells without transitioning the mobile terminal out of coverage, even when transferring from a macrocell to a femtocell. A mobile terminal is provided with: a macro cell search means which searches for a macro base station which can communicate with the mobile terminal, which communicates with macro base stations that form macro cells and femto base stations that form femtocells; a cell ID detection means which receives broadcast information from the macro base station found by the macro cell search means, and detects the cell ID of the macro base station; a cell ID information storage means which stores the cell ID of the macro base station; a cell ID comparison means which compares the cell ID stored by the cell ID information storage means and the cell ID detected by the cell ID detection means; a control means which makes the macro cell search means search for the macro base station when the reception quality from the femto base station which covers the mobile terminal does not reach a predetermined threshold, makes the cell ID detection means detect the cell ID, stores the detected cell ID in the cell ID information storage means, and each time the mobile terminal changes cell, makes the macro cell search means search for the macro base station, makes the cell ID detection means detect the cell ID, and makes the cell ID comparison means compare the cell IDs; and a femto cell search means which carries out a cell search for the femto base station on the basis of the result of the comparison of the cell ID stored by the cell ID information storage means and the detected cell ID.
