PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater mounting structure of an electric water heater for attaching the heater to a hot water storage container by brazing, and a method for mounting the structure. SOLUTION: The structure includes an outer casing, the hot water storage container provided inside the outer casing, and the heater, wherein the hot water storage container has a vacuum double layer structure formed by an inner container and outer container; a center part of a bottom includes a recess of a single layer structure which projects upward; the outer container includes a sealing part which is closed after vacuating a space between the inner container and outer container; and the heater is fixed by brazing in the recess by local heating of the recess.
