PURPOSE: An automatic focusing method which uses a VCM actuator is provided to minimize spring ringing phenomenon by increasing the linearity of spring movement according to the reduction of a spring motion section. CONSTITUTION: The location of lens is set up as an upward position value according to a dummy code(S220). The location of the lens is set up as the upward position value according to each code value(S230). The upward position value is obtained from the image that is captured according to the code value(S240). The location of the lens is set up based on the optimum upward position value(S250).
