The invention relates to a lock with a locking mechanism comprising a rotary catch which is preferably at least partially made of metal, said rotary catch comprising a load arm and a catch arm, which is rotatably mounted on a rotary latch axis and which can receive a bolt. Said lock is characterised in that the distance between the inner end of the bolt and the contact point between the bolt and the load arm is shorter than the distance between the contact point between the bolt and the load arm and the outer end of the bolt. Opening forces of a motor vehicle lock are thus minimised.
