<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in light-dark contrast, by preventing light which is emitted from a light source and reflected at a code from being accepted by a photodetection unit. <P>SOLUTION: The handy type code reader 1 reading a code 53 formed on a surface 51 of a translucent substrate 50 includes: an illumination suppressing means which prevents light emitted from a blue light emission unit 25 from being illuminated on the code 53; and a photodetection unit 30 which receives light which is emitted from the blue light emission unit 25, enters the substrate 50 from an area outside the code 53 on the surface 51, and is output to the outside of the substrate 50 from the inside of the substrate 50 through the code 53. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
