PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent video viewing technology which uses a video display device and video viewing glasses.

SOLUTION: The video viewing glasses include: a synchronizing signal reception section for receiving an external synchronizing signal; a pair of optical filters for adjusting light quantities transmitted therethrough respectively to the left eye and the right eye; and an optical filter control portion for controlling the optical filters so that a period of time from when the external synchronizing signal is received till when opening degrees of the optical filters become a prescribed value amounts to a prescribed period of time by adjusting timing of starting to release the optical filters according to the external synchronizing signal received.
