The method involves designing an ignition system and/or trigger system as a corona-ignition system for igniting combustion mixture by producing a non-thermal plasma. An electrical measured variable or correcting variable of the corona ignition system is evaluated for diagnosis of pressure in a combustion chamber. The pressure is diagnosed during entire gas exchange and combustion clock by applying voltage at the corona ignition system and evaluating the electrical measured variable, or the correcting variable is diagnosed. The current at a primary side and/or secondary side of the corona ignition system and/or impedance at the primary side and/or secondary side of the corona ignition system and/or frequency at the primary side and/or secondary side of the corona ignition system and/or a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) signal of an intermediate resonant circuit of the corona ignition system is evaluated as the electrical measured variable of the corona ignition system.
