The invention concerns a turbine driven compressor comprising a compression chamber at one side limited by a piston and drive means for moving the piston reciprocatingly in the compression chamber between a top dead centre position and a bottom dead centre position, the drive means comprising a turbine such as a wind turbine or a water turbine, the turbine having measuring means for determining a rotation speed of the turbine and/or a flow speed of the turbine driving flow of wind or water. In accordance with the invention, the drive means comprises coupling means for coupling and decoupling the rotation of the turbine and the reciprocating movement of one or more pistons. |
