An automated test system for a set-top box comprises; a means for providing control signals to the set-top box, a means for acquiring audio or video output signals from the set-top box, a means for analysing the output signals to determine the completion of a predefined test event and a means for measuring the duration of the test event. For example, the system can be used to measure the zap time i.e. the time taken to change a channel, the dwell time of a banner or menu, the duration of an audio alert or the time taken for audio and video synchronisation. Event duration can be determined by counting the number of video frames detected during the event and the system may calculate the mean or standard deviation of the component video values. The system can be configured to run multiple tests using multiple user defined conditions. |
