PURPOSE: A method of forming a layer of conversion film on the outer surface of magnesium or magnesium alloy is provided to enhance corrosion resistance sine reactivity to acid/alkali is excellent and activity is strong. CONSTITUTION: A method of forming a layer of conversion film on the outer surface of magnesium or magnesium alloy comprises following steps. The outer surface of magnesium or magnesium alloy is degreased and then washed. An etching process for removing the oxide film from the outer surface of the magnesium or magnesium alloy is performed and a washing process is done. A de-smutting process for removing smut from the outer surface of the magnesium or magnesium alloy is performed and a washing process is done. A conversion film is formed on the outer surface of the magnesium or magnesium alloy and then is washed. A painting process is done on the conversion film.
