FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre optics and a system for producing chalcogenide glass of the system As-S with low content of oxygen impurities in form of hydroxyl groups, water molecules, carbon dioxide and can be used to produce fibre waveguides used in optics and near- and middle infrared range devices. The method involves fusing high-purity arsenic and sulphur in an evacuated quartz reactor. The source of As is arsenic monosulphide obtained by reacting sulphur with arsenic in the presence of carbon disulphide vapour. Synthesis of arsenic monosulphide is preferably carried out at temperature not higher than 450C, after which the obtained arsenic monosulphide is cleaned via vacuum distillation with specific rate of evaporation (0.8-1)* 10-3 g/cm2s. Sulphur is then added to the arsenic monosulphide and the mixture is fused from arsenic monosulphide and sulphur at temperature not higher than 750C. ^ EFFECT: invention enables to obtain glass of the system As-S with low oxygen content in form of hydroxyl groups (in amount of 1*10-7 mol %) at wavelength 2,9 mcm. ^ 2 cl, 2 ex |
