PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine that a document is a loose-leaf document with economical constitution of a small parts count. SOLUTION: When the document fed along a feeding path by a rotating first feeding roller is butted against a second feeding roller in a rotation stop state and subjected to skew correction, feeding torque F of the first feeding roller is detected (step S18). Also, based on thickness of the fed document, a threshold N of the feeding torque of the first feeding roller for discriminating whether the document is a loose-leaf document or an ordinary document is obtained (step S19). When the detected feeding torque F is equal to or under the obtained threshold N (step S20), the document is determined as the loose-leaf document (step S21). COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
