A stand (10) for supporting an article a spaced distance above a support surface (100) and for damping vibration therebetween. The stand (10) includes a support frame (112) having resilient bushings (30,36) engaged therewith. Each bushing (30,36) defines a bore (46) into which a first end of one of a plurality of rods (16,18,20,22) is received. The rods (16,18,20,22) extend downwardly from the bushings (30) and abut the support surface (100). The bores (46) are configured to permit the rods (16,18,20,22) to move more in one horizontal direction than in another.
