PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart or release a spring force according to a length of protrusion of a piston rod and to reduce noises during operation in a cylinder device. SOLUTION: A piston 12, to which the piston rod 2 is connected, is fitted in a cylinder member 3, and the piston rod 2 is urged by a coil spring 27 via a clutch member 24. When the length of protrusion of the piston rod 2 is less than a prescribed length, a ball 26 is engaged with an inner peripheral clutch groove 18 to fix the retaining member 24 in a guide sleeve 17 and release the piston rod 2, thereby preventing the spring force from acting on the piston rod 2. When the length is greater than or equal to the prescribed length, the ball 26 is engaged with an outer peripheral clutch groove 23 to release the clutch member 24 from the guide sleeve 17 and fix it in the piston rod 2, thereby making the spring force act on the piston rod 2. O-rings 21, 22 are interposed between the cylinder member 3 and the guide sleeve 17, thereby cutting off the transmission of the operation noises of the ball 26. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
