In an axial flow, subsonic air intake for a jet propulsion engine, e. g. a gas turbine jet propulsion engine, the portion 23 of the intake duct which, in use, is lowermost converges towards the axis of the duct in a downstream direction, whilst substantially the whole of the remainder of the duct either diverges in adownstreamdirection or, as shown, is parallel to the duct axis. Articles inadvertently left on portion 23 slide out of the intake and are not ingested into the engine.</p> |
