Glow plug with integrated pressure sensor

A glowplug (1) has an integral pressure sensor (2) that measures the pressure pertaining in an engine combustion chamber. The glowplug housing (6) translates via a converging conical seal zone (7) around the heated helical filament (8) towards the combustion chamber (9), and terminates at an apex (10) within the combustion chamber (3). The pressure sensor (2a, 2b, 2c) is located not cooled in the combustion chamber (9) side of the glowplug (1). The pressure sensor is exposed to radial pressure. The glowplug helical filament or its electrical feed wire by-passes the pressure sensor (2a), or passes thru the pressure sensor (2b, 2c) to the glowplug apex.
