PURPOSE: A gripper apparatus for a tire stack is provided to reduce labor and industrial disaster and to improve work efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A gripper apparatus for a tire stack comprises: vertical arms(5) which is unfolded and folded by a motor(3) attached to a supporting shaft(4) of a gripper(2); and a laser sensor(7) formed at the lower end of the vertical arm. A method for picking up a tire comprises: a step of transferring single tire(1a); a step of loading the tire in a stack unit; a step of driving the gripper with an arm by the motor to carry the tire stack(1); and picking up the tire stack.
