The interface (4) has electronic switching units (LU, RU) provided for connection units (L, R) for automatically locking a connection of the connection units with a coupling unit (6) in a deactivated operation condition of the coupling unit. The switching units automatically unlock the connection in an activated operating condition of the coupling unit. Switching elements (LRU1, LRU2) are provided in data bypass lines (LR.01-LR.04) for automatically locking the bypass lines in the activated condition and automatically unlocking the bypass lines in the deactivated condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for transmitting data.
