The invention relates to a device for inspection and maintenance work on rotor blades and/or the tower surface of large wind power plants, particularly off-shore plants. The device comprises a guide and lift unit having at least two rings for the fixation to and for the vertical movement along the tower. Distributed over the circumference of the rings, said rings comprise at least four, or more, telescoping cross members having active units. The cross members can be telescoped in the direction of the axis of the wind power plant tower, wherein the drive units move the cross members and press them against the surface of the tower for fixation. The device further comprises a freely projecting multi-member articulated arm, which is fastened to the guide and lift unit by way of a joint. The members of the articulated arm are moved relative to each and stabilized by drive elements. At the outer end, the multi-member articulated arm preferably comprises a workman's basket and/or a connecting unit for technical equipment for inspection or cleaning.
