摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain detailed information of a flaw part without using a color image even though an object to be inspected is wood having a low contrast gray scale to the surrounding. SOLUTION: A gray scale image of a surface of wood taken by a monochrome line sensor camera is input to an image processing device 4. The gray scale image is binarized by a binarization means 11, and a candidate flaw area is extracted from the binary image by a candidate flaw extraction means 12. A dividing means 14 divides the predetermined area including the candidate flaw area to generate microelements, and a re-binarization means 16 binarizes the luminance for each microelement using a threshold value set for each microelement. From the binary image generated by the re-binarization means 16, a candidate flaw area is re-extracted by a candidate flaw re-extraction means 17, and a flaw determination means 18 determines a flaw for the candidate flaw area using the luminance difference between the luminance of the re-extracted candidate flaw area and the luminance of the surrounding.
