PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent false detection of the opened/closed state of a portable terminal. SOLUTION: The portable terminal, which is provided with a first casing, a second casing, and a connector that rotatably connects the first casing and the second casing, is characterized by: a magnet being provided within a convex section formed on the connector; a concave section being formed on the second casing at a position corresponding to the connector while in a closed state that overlaps the first casing; a magnetism-detecting element, which detects the open state of the portable terminal by detecting a change in magnetism of the magnet, being provided to the back surface of the concave section; and the convex section and the concave section engaging, and the magnet and the magnetism-detecting element having positions that overlap each other in the direction of the thickness of the casing when the first casing and the second casing are in the overlapping closed state.
