A brassiere includes crossed tapes 30, 40 secured to each other at their crossing point 50 and each comprising an upper branch secured to one cup and a lower branch secured to the other cup, a horizontally-extensible underbust band 70 and a triangular insert 60 of stretchable fabric secured to the band 70 and to the edges of the tapes 30, 40. The insert is preferably of two way stretch fabric. The tapes are preferably elastic and are secured to the cups 10, 20 by two rows of stitches. The upper branches 31, 41 are slightly stretched as they are sewn and overlie the cup portions 11, 21 respectively by half their width. The lower branches 32, 42 overlie the cup portions 22, 12 respectively by their whole width. |
