PURPOSE: A recording medium reproducing apparatus and image output monitoring method is provided to prevent the reproduction of content in a state that an external display device is not executed by checking a state of an image output. CONSTITUTION: An application generates a listener instance for the reception of A/V(Audio/Video) output state information(S920). The application registers the generated listener instance(S930). The application monitors the state change of the image output(S940). The application generates an event instance for image output information(S960). The application transfers a generated event instance to a registered listener instance(S970).
