PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can reduce power consumption in a manner to stop supplying of a clock to an encryption processing circuit depending on a condition of network communication. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is formed of a plurality of CPUs. At least one of the CPUs is a subsidiary CPU of an I/O processor corresponding to energy saving and an I/O controller having a network function. The image forming apparatus determines the necessity of processing of a received packet, and determines whether encryption processing can be performed by the subsidiary CPU when it determines that the processing is necessary.
