The present invention discloses a method for realizing local access. The method includes that: after a user terminal initiated local access and a mobility management unit determined that the local access could be established for the user terminal, the mobility management unit acquires information of a local access gateway via a Domain Name System (DNS) server. The present invention also correspondingly discloses a system for realizing local access. By providing a specific implementation scheme of inquiring the local access gateway, the present invention guarantees to implement a selection between a core network gateway and the local access gateway according to different scenes, thus properly and effectively realizing a local access function realized by the user terminal via the local access gateway.
