The photoelectric metering network in the present invention consists of a photoelectric metering terminal and a metering main station or metering substation which are connected with optical cable or optical fiber cable. The photoelectric metering terminal comprises an optical interface, electrical interface or wireless interface, and an Ethernet interface or data interface such as RS232 or RS485, which is connected with a metering or controlling device such as an electricity meter, water meter, gas meter, oil meter, TTU or FTU. In the present invention, the wireless interface of the metering main station or metering substation can interactively and hierarchically communicate with or transmit data to the wireless interface of the photoelectric metering terminal via the wireless channel GPRS or 3G network. The metering main station or the metering substation can be a computer with a database software module inside. The photoelectric metering network in the present invention is in a Tree, Ring, Star, Chain or a hybrid topology. At least one link or part of one link of the photoelectric metering network uses the optical cable or the optical fiber cable to transmit metering data information. The present invention reduces the investment and the technology difficulty of the network cabling and improves the network performance and the range of application.
