Method for leak testing a hand-held cylinder stroke pipette and leak testing equipment for the same

The method involves measuring pressure in connecting volume during a specific time period and/or after a specific time period with a held or disconnected vacuum pump (5) and sealed connecting volume by using a pressure sensor (2). Pressure rise is determined by an electronic control device (10). The determined pressure rise is compared with reference values stored in a non-volatile data storage (11) by the control device. A pipette (2) is evaluated as tight/usable or untight/non-usable by a display device (13) depending on the determined pressure rise and comparison results. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing leak of hand-held single-channel or multi-channel piston stroke pipettes.
