Disclosed is the use of a benzothiophene alkyl ether derivative represented by the general formula depicted for use as a neurogenesis inducer and for treating mental disorders such as schizophrenia. Also disclosed is the use of 1-(3-(2-(1-benzothiophen-5-yl)ethoxy)propyl)azetidin-3-ol for treating said diseases.
