PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device and an image forming device, capable of improving a mechanical strength without increasing a weight of a holding body compared with a holding body of an optical member which is provided so that light reflected at an original document existing on a reading position does not penetrate into a light path reaching a light-receiving element. SOLUTION: The image reading device 1 includes an LED 141 for irradiating the original document and a CCD 161 for receiving the light reflected at the original document, wherein a penetrating unit 153c for supporting two mirrors 151, 152 is provided at a frame 153 so as to interrupt a portion of unused area 43 which does not contribute to imaging among light paths 40 which are formed by facing the first and second mirrors 151, 152 in a second carriage 15 for guiding the reflected light from the original document into the CCD 161 by the first and second mirrors 151, 152.
