The present invention relates to an energy-saving apparatus using computer user information and to an energy-saving method using same. In detail, to minimize the power being consumed in a computer by enabling the computer to automatically switch a mode thereof to an energy-saving mode in accordance with whether or not the computer user information matches user authentication information, the energy-saving apparatus comprises: a signal-generating unit which stores and transmits computer user information; an information-trasceiving unit which receives computer user information from the signal-generating unit; a storage space for storing user authentication information; a comparing unit which compares the computer user information received from the signal-generating unit with the user authentication information stored in the storage space to determine whether or not the computer user information and the user authentication information match each other; and a mode-switching unit which switches the mode of the computer into an energy-saving mode in accordance with the result of the determination of the comparing unit. |
