PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a user of switching of communication systems at proper time and in a proper state. SOLUTION: A control part of this portable terminal performs message display for reminding the user on a display when communication systems are switched from a 3G system to a GSM (R) system on the basis of residence area identification information obtained from a mobile communication system. At that time, the control part determines a change in a residence county in which its own device currently exists, and suppresses message display until the residence counter is changed after performing the message display. That is, only when network switching for changing residence countries occurs to change a residence network to a GSM (R) network, message display is performed to thereby suppress reminding display more than required.
