The method involves receiving of data regarding a manufacturer dependent structure of data in a storage medium (5), where the data is stored in an internal memory (2) of a mobile terminal (1). The stored data in the manufacturer dependent structure in the medium is received. Structure of data to be secured is converted into a manufacturer independent data structure. The converted data in the medium is stored in the manufacturer independent data structure such that data on the medium is secured. The data is maintained regarding the structure based on international mobile equipment identity. An independent claim is also included for a storage medium that comprises a transfer program.
